Description
As part of the major redevelopment of the iconic North Sydney Olympic Pool, the project team needed to restore and extend the site’s distinctive Art Deco brickwork while maintaining the visual integrity of the original 1930s façade.
With the heritage bricks no longer in production, new masonry introduced during construction did not match the existing wall. ECOTONE worked closely with the design and heritage teams to develop a precise colour‑matching solution for the new brickwork, ensuring seamless integration with the original material. Using ECOTONE’s Long‑Life Colour Coating system, the new bricks were stained onsite to replicate the tone, variation, and character of the heritage wall without covering the natural texture of the masonry. The result is a long‑lasting, breathable finish that preserves the architectural identity of one of Sydney’s most recognisable public landmarks.
The restored façade now reads as a cohesive continuation of the original Art Deco structure, supporting both heritage conservation and the broader revitalisation of this celebrated harbourside site.
