ECOTONE was engaged to apply Colour by Design and Functional Protective Coating solutions to the building’s brickwork and ground-level granite. The existing brickwork was custom-coloured using ECOTONE Minsil and ECOTONE Matt to complement the adjacent Capitol Theatre’s heritage tones, creating a seamless visual connection within the Haymarket streetscape. The red granite base was treated with ECOTONE Matt Plus, achieving a sophisticated dark layered finish that aligned with Wardle’s contemporary design vision and enhanced the building’s modern character. To ensure long-term performance, both the brickwork and granite surfaces were finished with ECOTONE’s Ultra Graffiti Shield, providing durable protection against environmental wear and vandalism while preserving the façade’s refined aesthetic.

Located in the heart of Sydney’s emerging Tech Central precinct, 477 on Pitt is a significant revitalisation of an existing commercial building. The project reimagines a dated asset into a contemporary technology and innovation hub, seamlessly connecting with the historic urban fabric of Haymarket.

We are proud to contribute to the project’s sustainable approach by helping renew and protect the existing façade materials rather than replacing them. This not only preserved the building’s embodied carbon but also reduced waste and extended the lifespan of the original structure. Through our Colour by Design and Functional Protective Coating services, we helped blend heritage character with a modern aesthetic, enhancing both the appearance and performance of the façade.
