It is a popular choice in our industry for its ability to transform a building’s exterior image making a striking visual impression through colour, texture and finish. The cladding we work with is versatile, light-weight, durable and fire-resistant which perfectly aligns with our mission to deliver stunningly sustainable results in the built environment.
The use of cladding is growing in Australia and New Zealand whether it is used on an entire structure or to add extra personality to a specific section.
Making stunning work of cladding
For all the sustainable qualities of cladding, it is a blank canvas without colour. This is where ECOTONE comes in. We’ve been at the cutting-edge of change partnering with our industry partners to create colour applications and finishes that transform cladding from a dull appearance into a world of colour possibilities.
Our Colour By Design approach is a perfect match for your cladding project whether we’re working with compressed fibre cement or fibre cement.
Is your cladding idea based on creating a natural wood or stone finish? Or perhaps your project requires a metallic effect or vivid colour to meet your design aspirations?
Regardless of the type of finish, we’re the team to turn your design idea into reality.
If you have a building project in mind, our team would love to hear from you.
Layering colours and coatings through CXD
Cladding projects are unique and the role colour applications and functional coatings play are integral to delivering Stunningly Sustainable results.
Customer Experience Design (CXD) is our way of collaborating with our industry partners to identify the ideal solution for every building project saving time, money and rework.
CXD deconstructs your design project into layers
Building material + Emulsion stain + Colour effect + Functional coat
It is the combination of these layers and their interaction that leads to stunningly sustainable results. It is art, science and technology working as one.

During the colour specification discussions of the CXD process, we introduce our customers to ECOTONE’s layered finishes. We also offer a range of finishes based on current trends.

Architect: Mayoh Architects
Builder: Reitsma Constructions
Using our CXD process in collaboration with the design team, our ECOTONE team created a specialised wood grain colour finish using ECOTONE Matt Plus and ECOTONE Sharp. The surface colour finish was applied onsite to the grey compressed fibre cement cladding soffits to match in with the internal timber used in the project.
