We are ECOTONE Coatings, the leaders in specialist colour and functional coatings for the building and construction industry in Australia and New Zealand for over three decades. Our expert team works with a diverse range of building materials, including concrete, brick, block, mortar, fibre cement and concrete providing both standard and bespoke colour and coating solutions to support any project.
We changed our trading name in 2021 from Nawkaw to ECOTONE Coatings and refined our vision to reflect our commitment to providing innovative, sustainable, and beautiful solutions to our clients. Our original team remains the same, but even more inspired and driven towards our new vision. Our product names have also evolved to reflect our new identity, but our formulations still deliver the same (if not slightly improved) high-quality results that our customers have come to expect from us.
Our vision is bold, as we aspire to transform our urban landscape through stunningly sustainable interior and exterior surfaces and buildings. Our approach combines art, science, and technology to move our industry forward towards greener and safer spaces that are not only functional but also beautiful. Through our ECOCLEAN coatings, we are moving our industry forward towards invisible self-cleaning coating systems that maintain the beauty of a surface while sustainably extending its life. The benefits include anti-carbonation, graffiti resistance, and self-cleaning amongst many. At the heart of our company is our people and the people we work with.

Tony Watling
Leading the charge is our CEO and NSW Managing Director, Tony Watling. With over 40 years of experience in the building materials and construction industry, Tony is the mastermind behind our innovative and sustainable solutions.
He has spent the last two decades perfecting his craft, creating beautiful and functional coatings that transform the urban landscape.
“I am a solution seeker. I like to understand things and make them better”. Tony seeks to build a sustainable business model for ECOTONE combining planet, people and profit.
NSW Project and Operations managers, Adam Wearing and Tom Vidovic, bring ECOTONE’s expertise to the forefront. Combining their years of industry experience with a strong focus on people, they are the experts in the region and working towards a stunning sustainable urban landscape in NSW.
Megan Branks
Megan Branks, our NZ Managing Director, is a force to be reckoned with. She has spent most of her career in the building and construction industry, honing her skills in business, sales, and account management. Megan works closely with Kylie King. Together, using their passion and expertise, they are the driving force behind our stunningly sustainable facades and finishes in New Zealand.
Glenn Birthisel
It’s a powerful team in VIC with Glenn Birthisel leading the group. Glenn has extensive experience within the construction industry. He is most skilled in creating bespoke solutions for clients. He works closely with the Commercial Manager Peter Tilly and his son-in-law, Jono Simmons. Nothing like keeping it in the family.
Wayne Duncan
In sunny Queensland, Wayne Duncan, our QLD Managing Director, is the industry leader in bringing colour applications to concrete, cladding, and masonry building materials. He has recently expanded his expertise to protective photocatalyst coatings that can be applied to any surface, making him a true jack-of-all-trades. Wayne works closely with Jayden Beck to achieve stunning results in Queensland.
Selman Guven
Selman Guven, our WA Managing Director, brings over 15 years of experience in construction and commercial painting to ECOTONE Coatings. With a foundation in commercial painting and protective coatings, Selman has spent the last decade building Benchmark Painting into one of the most respected and well-known painting contractors in WA. He brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge to ECOTONE Coatings on the West Coast.
Andrew Town
Andrew Town, our SA Managing Director, spent 28 years in the printing industry followed by 11 years in the real estate, finance and building industries. In that time, he has accumulated a number of skills across trade, sales, marketing and business management roles, which have set him up for success in moving the SA Building Industry towards long-lasting colour and functional coatings.
Deb Barratt
Finally, we have Deb Barratt, our TAS Managing Director. With over 30 years in the building and construction industry, Deb has firm foundations in brick and masonry and has evolved her skills to concrete and cladding facades and finishes using long-lasting colour and functional coatings. Being part of the evolution of ECOTONE Coatings represents a whole new lease of life for Deb, and she is excited to create stunning possibilities for Tasmania’s built environment.
