BRIEF
Application of Self-Cleaning coating system to the external in-situ and precast concrete walls
Material & Application
The project required a high-performance protective system for the external in-situ and precast concrete walls that preserved the natural raw concrete appearance while providing long-term durability. ECOTONE applied Self-Cleaning System 1, a two-part clear functional coating specifically formulated for concrete façades. First Coat, the porosity sealer, penetrates and consolidates the substrate to reduce water ingress and improve adhesion. Top Coat, the clear self-cleaning layer, forms a super hydrophilic surface that allows dirt, organic matter, and environmental debris to break down and wash away naturally with rainfall.
The system was applied on-site by ECOTONE’s trained applicators to ensure uniform coverage and optimal performance. Engineered for long-lasting protection, System 1 delivers a low-maintenance finish that preserves the natural concrete aesthetic while shielding the surface from the effects of weathering and everyday environmental wear.
Outcome
The award-winning Oran Park Hotel, a three-storey “super pub” in Sydney’s south-west, is a vibrant, community-focused hospitality landmark. ECOTONE’s application of System 1 provided a transparent protective layer that keeps the façades looking fresh and enhances the building’s durability.
By preserving the raw concrete appearance while reducing maintenance requirements, the system enabled the project team to maintain the architects’ vision over time. The result is a striking, functional exterior that balances durability, performance, and the hotel’s bold, contemporary design, reinforcing its status as a landmark destination.
Testimonial
